What We Offer

Psychology Sessions

We have had many individual's come to us saying that they have been to therapy before and talking about their problems hasn't solved anything, or that they felt better for a while before their old symptoms returned. We have listened to these common themes and strive to offer a more holistic approach to psychology by offering supportive intervention and reprocessing methods to allow client's to move forward in their lives. Our evidenced based methods are effective because they include a unique combination of cognitive therapies, nervous system support and somatic methods such as Emotional freedom Technique (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).

Our psychology sessions are down to earth, empowering and aim to develop self understanding and confidence as individuals realise their potential to move past patterns of stress and anxiety. Sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Mindful Movement & Yoga

Under prolonged periods of strain, the body's natural stress response, commonly known as fight or flight, can become the primary mode of functioning. This may induce ongoing psychological symptoms such as anxiety, panic and stress, physiological symptoms such as increased heart rate, shallow breathing and poor digestion as well as unhelpful behaviours such as nail biting, poor decision making, avoidance and emotional reactivity.

We teach a range of breath and movement techniques that focus on activating the Parasympathetic Nervous System state, (switching from a stress response to a rest response), a state of optimal functioning and rejuvenation. Working with the breath and body in a conscious way interrupts the cycle of overwhelm, can reinstate a sense of safety and reduce the uncomfortable and often crippling symptoms of stress and anxiety.

Sessions are tailored to the individual and can include a range of mindful movement, yoga and breath techniques depending on the client's personal preference. Sessions run for 60 minutes and no prior experience is required.

For information on partnered or small group sessions please get in touch.

Small Group Workshops

We have a passion for helping people create positive change their lives. To expand our offerings to as many as possible, we frequently run small group workshops on managing anxiety with Yoga and stress reduction techniques that can be easily learnt and implemented at home.

Receiving Medicare Rebates

Under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) an individual is eligible to receive a rebate for 10 Psychology sessions per calender year under a Mental Health Care Plan issued by a General Practitioner. After the initial 6 sessions, the psychologist will summarise progress and can suggest the individual continue treatment for another 4 sessions in that same year, reviewable by the referring GP. It is a Medicare requirement for the psychologist to communicate with the GP after the 6th and 10th session to provide a brief update on progress and whether more sessions are required.
After all 10 sessions for the current 12 month period have been claimed, a rebate will no longer be issued until the next calendar year commencing January 1st. However you may continue to visit us and pay the private fee for as many psychology sessions as preferred. Mental Health Care Plans should be reviewed every 12 months, with some GPs preferring to write a new plan if it has been longer than 12 months since the previous referral was written.

Please Note: It is the individual's responsibility to ensure eligible sessions are available in order to receive a rebate for the session. If there are no more sessions available for the calender year, Medicare won't process a rebate and the individual will be out of pocket the full session fee. If you are unsure of the status of your available sessions or have any queries about your mental health care plan, it is best to contact Medicare directly for current information and session availability.
